Former Chelsea star, Frank Leboeuf, has advised the Blues to take advantage of Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Man United and sign him in January if the opportunity comes.
Recall that Chelsea was heavily linked with Ronaldo during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly had agreed to sign Ronaldo but the move did not fall through because of then-coach Thomas Tuchel’s disapproval.
“I think Chelsea signing Cristiano Ronaldo would’ve been a good idea in the summer when Todd Boehly was suggesting they were interested.
“But I am certain that Tuchel would have been against the idea because of how it turned out when he was dealing with [Kylian] Mbappe and Neymar as megastars at PSG and he would not have wanted to relive that experience,” Leboeuf told Fair Betting Sites.
“I really thought Ronaldo could have been a good signing for the club commercially because clearly, Ronaldo is worldwide in terms of his marketability, but in terms of on a football level, I am not so sure.”
Ronaldo has had six children. He first became a father to a son, who was born on 17 June 2010 in the United States. He stated that he has full custody of the child and would not be publicly revealing the identity of the mother per an agreement with her. In January 2015, Ronaldo announced that his five-year relationship with Russian model Irina Shayk had ended.
Ronaldo became a father to twins, born on 8 June 2017 in the United States via surrogacy. He is currently in a relationship with Argentine-born model Georgina Rodríguez, who gave birth to a daughter on 12 November 2017. The couple expected their second pair of twins in 2022. The male twin died during childbirth while the female twin survived. Ronaldo’s father, José, died of an alcoholism-related liver condition at age 52 in September 2005 when Ronaldo was 20.
