Do not open your Apple Watch Ultra

The Apple Watch Ultra has made its way into the hands of customers, and unlike the previous Apple Watch, it has four open screw heads at the bottom of the device. I like to take a look inside my technology, whether to do Add Thermal Pad to M2 MacBook Air To improve performance or just to see what’s inside doing technical work. The moment I saw the screws on the bottom of the Apple Watch Ultra, I knew I wanted to peek inside. But I probably shouldn’t have…

There are four P5 pentalobe screws on the bottom of the Apple Watch. These are the same type of screws that are on the bottom of the MacBook, and while they are not as common as a Phillips or flathead screwdriver, pentalobe screwdrivers Not unusual either. After removing those four screws, the first complication arose – there’s a very small O-ring around each screw. Undoubtedly, these are part of the extreme waterproof rating of Apple’s high-end smartwatches. As I went to screw back in those initial four screws, it proved nearly impossible to tighten them without the O-ring partially slipping out of place.

Nonetheless, I was well aware at this point that some of the watch’s waterproofing could be compromised. With those screws, the only way to continue is a . had to use spudger and thin shim To separate the watch’s ceramic back from the titanium casing. It was sealed well, and the moment he pulled that thin waterproof was destroyed. In addition, there are two thin ribbon cables connecting the rear of the watch and all of its health sensors to the battery, screen, processor, and body of the watch. I had to be careful when taking the two apart to avoid damaging the cables.

Removing the back panel didn’t reveal much of the internals. There was a large black component with the Apple logo, but two of the buttons used to release the Apple Watch band came out, and three of the four springs disappeared into the abyss of my carpet.

With the watch’s back panel removed, the watch didn’t cause any immediate errors, but it’s understandable that it couldn’t connect to my phone. There were three more screws – this time the tri-wing – and the little metal plates holding that black component in place, but once I removed them and started lifting it, it became clear it was a bit too big a task . It looked like it had several ribbon cables attached to the other side, and from the rear of the clock, there was no good way to disconnect them. Reaching them probably involves removing the display by softening the adhesive and then using an opening pick to pry it apart. this way you can access the internals on previous Apple watches, but the seam of the display on the Ultra didn’t seem like a great way to open it that I believed I could do without cracking the display. The Apple Watch Ultra’s display is sapphire, which, while more scratch-resistant, is potentially more prone to cracking. This is probably why Apple extended the watch’s metal body around the flat sides of the display.

At that point, I put everything back together as best I could. Reconnecting the two ribbon cables attached to the bottom of the device proved difficult. The buttons to remove the watch band, which now lacks some minor springs, rattle along with the watch’s haptics. And, there are little rubber o-rings sticking out a bit around the screw. With the O-rings out of place and the adhesive seal broken, the watch’s waterproofing is certainly nowhere near its factory standards. I definitely wouldn’t take up scuba diving at this point.

No doubt, in the days to come we will see a complete breakdown on the part of the people of this hour. i fixed it, They will definitely venture further apple watch ultra than I did. I’m sure someone more skilled than me can do a better job of disassembling and reassembling the watch without causing much damage to the waterproofing, but alas. I’d definitely recommend waiting for their guide to feed your curiosity, rather than taking your own watch apart, otherwise you’ll get a non-waterproof (or worse, a broken) one of Apple’s most durable smart watch. version can be left with.
