Marcus Rashford talked about scoring his 100th goal for Manchester United and acknowledged that the ‘energy’ at Old Trafford has changed this season, which has contributed to his improvement in play.

Since the beginning of October, the wide forward had been involved in 98 club goals. However, in the past few days, he added two more, first against FC Sheriff in the Europa League and then on Sunday against West Ham in the Premier League.

In addition to being Rashford’s 100th goal for the club, his incredible first-half header at Old Trafford proved to be the game’s winning goal in a fiercely contested match.

After the game, Rashford discussed the century of goals with Sky Sports. He said: “It’s [the 100th goal] has been on my mind for the last couple of games but we’ve been winning games so I’ve been happy you know. I’ve just been waiting for it to come and thankfully today it came, so yeah, now we just prepare for the next game.”

He added: “It’s not bad but I need to be scoring a few more headers though.”

Rashford also spoke about the development of his form, saying: “It’s a completely different energy around the club and the training ground so that for a start puts me in a better head space.

“I just feel really motivated now and I think I struggled sometimes before with mental things, not really my own performance, but it was other things off of the pitch and that’s the biggest difference from last season.

“Too often last season I wasn’t in the right headspace for every game.”
