Thierry Henry and Patrice Evra, both former France internationals, responded differently to Cristiano Ronaldo’s choice to leave the field of play during Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Near the end of the game, Ronaldo walked off the substitutes’ bench and vanished through the tunnel.
In a wholly dominant effort, Fred and Bruno Fernandes scored in the second half to give United all three points.
On Amazon Prime after the game, Henry spoke on the Ronaldo incident.
“A job Erik ten Hag has to deal with. But there was a game, a magnificent game, the story should not be Ronaldo walking off.”
Former United defender, Patrice Evra, added:
“Everyone is different. I want to stay on United’s performance, not to protect Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Maybe he needed some treatment? I don’t want to find an excuse. We have to stop talking every day about Ronaldo.”
