Reece James, a defender for Chelsea, claims that despite his recent injury, he will do whatever to be selected for England’s 2022 FIFA World Cup team.
James suffered a knee injury during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League on October 11 at the San Siro, and as a result, he will miss the World Cup in Qatar by two months.
James, however, posted a brief video on his YouTube channel in which he declared his intention to work hard to earn a spot in Gareth Southgate’s final team for the world’s premier football tournament in Qatar.
James stated, “Last week, against AC Milan, I went in for a tackle and got hurt.
“I didn’t consider it to be that horrible. I stayed in Milan for an extra day after the game with the simple assumption that it might only be a little ache. I saw a surgeon a day or two later, and he predicted that I would be out for around two months.
Yes, it is clearly destructive. Only one month remain until the World Cup. Growing up, I had always wanted to attend, and this was my first chance. I’ll make every effort to go, but I’m plainly heartbroken. You understand, the injury occurred at a bad time.
“But certainly, I’ll keep you informed about daily developments. I’ll be in touch with you people shortly, too.
James has made 15 appearances for England. He has scored one goal and recorded one assist in seven Premier League games this season.
England are in Group B of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Wales, Iran and the United States of America.
The Three Lions won the FIFA World Cup in 1966 when it was hosted by England.
