The star-studded remix follows his “Gangsta Grillz” mixtape with DJ Drama, which was released a few months ago.

Peezy, the last few years have been monumental for Detroit. He completed his prison sentence in February 2021 and released his album ONLY BUILT 4 DIAMOND LINKS last August. Peezy enlisted the help of Jeezy, Rob49, and Real Boston Richey to remix his smash hit “2 Million Up.” Each feature boasts impressive verses among a tasteful blend of each artist’s background. The song came after a string of notable singles this year, including “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” with Troy Ave.

For starters, “2 Million Up” establishes a compelling genre mix of a few different hip-hop styles. In fact, ONLY BUILT 4 DIAMOND LINKS (which features the original) accomplished this effectively. Furthermore, Peezy represents Detroit. Jeezy is an Atlanta legend, Rob49 is from New Orleans, and the name Real Boston Richey is a bit misleading. He hails from Tallahassee, Florida, and prefers to ride Detroit-inspired beats.

As a result, this track has a quick tempo and a powerful bounce to propel it forward. All four MCs bask in the vibes amidst soulful samples, vocal chops, rubbery 808s, and a steel-drum-like keys melody. It’s summery, light, and a little sweet, but most importantly, it’s engaging. Furthermore, each of the aforementioned cities has its own take on this bounce, making “2 Million Up” feel like a moment if you understand the context. Peezy has honed and perfected this bounce on songs like “Common Wealth.”

Peezy begins the track with his chorus after a funky sample introduces “2 Million Up.” He raps about facing adversity and remembering fallen friends. “Shooted back to the crib, went to get the switches / Stolen Trackhawk, tinted it up / Caught him outside, now he in a blunt / Ain’t no fallin’ off, I done put two million up,” he raps. He vividly portrayed his character and determination in this song, which led to collaborations with Hit-Boy and other big names. It also landed him a meal with James Harden.

Richey then delivers the song’s first proper verse. He easily switches between flows, able to stretch an idea out into the next bar. He also has to deal with being “dead wrong” and juggling his relationships with the street life. Jeezy shows incredible confidence and demonstrates why he is such an important figure in the game. Finally, Rob49 delivered the track’s most fiery and relentless verse.
