Olivia Newton-John’s publicist has admitted it was ‘disappointing’ that the actress was dropped from the In Memoriam section at the 2022 Emmy Awards.

Following Olivia’s death at the age of 73 last month, Olivia was dropped from the annual tribute, the Grease star’s rep spoke to after fans shared their outrage.

Olivia’s boycott sparked outrage among fans as they claimed she made several guest appearances on American shows and starred in several festive TV movies, including the 1990 favorite A Mom for Christmas.

While Olivia’s publicist confirmed that the family is still mourning her loss and would not like to comment, given her extensive history with Hollywood, she was personally ‘very disappointed’.

Before her death, Olivia had an extensive TV track record with guest appearances on American Idol, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Murphy Brown, Glee and Dancing with the Stars.

She also appeared in TV movies including A Mom for Christmas, and live specials including A Special Olivia Newton-John and Olivia Physical.

Olivia’s outrage at the annual In Memoriam segment of the Emmy Awards left her fans furious.

Celebrities who made the cut included actors Betty White, Bob Saget, Sidney Poitier and James Caan.

Responding to the snub, a fan tweeted: ‘How come Olivia Newton forgets John? how dare you. She is an icon and always will be. And you forgot him?’

‘Olivia Newton-John not being included? Explain yourself #Emmys,’ another tweeted, as someone else added: ‘Ok looking at the Emmys and they have honored a lot of people, where was Olivia Newton-John?’

While Olivia was not mentioned during the live tribute, her name was given to The. appears on Emmys Online in Memoriam Page,

Olivia starred in several popular TV shows during her long career, including Sordid Lives: The Series, Bette, Murphy Brown, and Ned & Stacy.

Olivia died peacefully on August 8 at her home in Southern California, surrounded by family and friends.

This comes after a brave and extraordinarily public decades-long battle with cancer, in which he was diagnosed thrice in 1992, 2013 and last in 2017.

His death was followed by a wave of public mourning, and Australia’s Victorian Premier Dan Andrews offered his family a state funeral, which they accepted.

Her husband John Easterling revealed the last wish of the Grease star before her death.

He said that Olivia and her family requested donations instead of flowers to her charity, the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, in her memory.
