Clarkson was awarded her own star on Monday and who better to help her join the rare group than the people who started the singer 20 years ago: original “Idol” judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

At the ceremony, Cowell talked about how the recording artist-turned-talk-show-host is as responsible for her career as it was for hers.

“I remember the day we met you. I remember not only your voice, but your personality,” he recalled of Clarkson’s time on the reality competition series. “I’ve got to be honest with you, I realized that time. No, honestly, you were so good. I just liked you and I was so grateful. And then came the moment when you sang ‘Respect’… and we were all looking at each other like, ‘Oh. My. God. Thank You.'”

“I remember the moment your name was called and I was honestly thinking to myself, ‘Thanks, we can have another season,'” he said. “I can honestly say to you, ‘Thanks, I’m here today.’ You validated what we did. If we don’t get any stars, then there is no point in doing these shows.”

Clarkson began her career with her record-breaking hit single, “A Moment Like This”, winning over runner-up Justin Guarini in the inaugural season of the reality juggernaut in 2002.

Cowell praised the singer as “one of the nicest, most loyal, most talented people” he has ever come across in the industry.

Abdul, who arrived late at the ceremony, said after remarks from her former co-star, “I am very proud to be here, honoured.” “I changed my flight so that I could stay here. I won’t remember it for the world. Kelly – Not only has the pace of your life changed, but you have helped change the course of everyone’s life.”

In his own speech, Clarkson noted that his “Idol” journey ended just steps away from unveiling his own star near the Dolby Theater on Hollywood Blvd.

“From the beginning, with ‘Idol,’ the three of you were very honest with me,” she said. “I think it’s important to not only have ‘yes’ people, but people who really love you, and care about you and give their honest advice, and I’ve always welcomed that.

“And I guess that’s why I’m here today,” she said. “Not just because of me, but because of having a consistent team of people who love and support you, and really want to make your dreams come true while making your dreams come true.”

She recently teased that her upcoming 10th studio album, set to be released sometime next year, would be partly inspired by their controversial split,

“It’s an important album,” explained Clarkson. Diversity In a recent interview. “I’m working on this in therapy: I sometimes have a hard time vocalizing what I feel, so music is helpful to me.”

“I wasn’t really doing hardcore work on an album until I needed to,” she continued. “But then there was the whole divorce thing, and I needed to write it. And then I didn’t know I was going to release it, because you can get very angry in that state of mind. So some songs, they definitely cover the gamut of emotions from; there’s everything on the album. It’s almost like the arc of a relationship, because the beginning is so beautiful and so sweet, and then it develops. And sometimes it Doesn’t grow the way you want it to.”
